Som Tam Modern Thai Fusion opened its doors in September 2015 and is located at Level 8 of Orchard Central, along the bustling shopping haven. Som Tam is a subsidiary from the Thai restaurant, Gin Khao. Som Tam pride itself in "giving Thai food a new leash of life', as the shop name suggests, it attempts to serve Thai Fusion cuisine that instills creativity such as Green Curry Pasta, as well as stir-fried spaghetti with beef and basil.

At Som Tam, be sure to expect a wide selection of food with bold and exotic flavours. I was initially overwhelmed by the plethora of selections categorized into street delights, salads, burgers, rice sets, noodles, pastas, grills, mains, soups, curries, drinks and desserts. The menu was also designed like a magazine with vivid photos.

With the highly raved truffle fries, Som Tam aims to differ themselves by having its own twist by serving their speciality Tom yum truffle fries. The fries were crisp and it was not at all oily. The Tom yum and truffle blended in pretty well, none of which is more overpowering of the other.

Tom Yum Truffle Fries ($6.80)
Deep fried chicken coated with creamy salted egg sauce. Definitely a crowd-pleaser amongst us for its tender bite-sized chicken with creamy sauce! PS. The serving was huge!!

Oozy Chicken ($10.80)

Flamed-grilled chicken skewers served with green Nahm Jum (green chilli sauce). The meat is juicy with just the right amount of fat. Dip the skewer into the sauce and I'm sure you'll be back for more!
Gai Satay 6's ($9.90)

The Krapow Chicken burger consist of the well-marinated basil chicken, flamed-grilled to perfect tenderness, topped with egg, cheddar cheese and dressed with their special Krawpow infused sauce.

The Kapi Beef Burger was my favourite - the succulent shrimp paste beef patties were grilled to perfection, with thai hot sauce as dressing.

The Green Curry chicken pasta was my personal favourite! The Green curry chicken pasta twirled its way into my heart with its spicy taste. The fresh and crunchy long beans as well as the tender chicken were perfect.

Green Curry Pasta ($14.80)
"Som Tam" Style Carbonara ($13.80), Aglio Olio Tom Yum Prawn pasta ($14.80), Green curry chicken pasta ($14.80)
Layered with palm sugar sponge and topped with toast coconut flakes, the Thai tea cheese cake is a perfect combination of both!

Thai Tea Cheese Cake ($8.80)
The toast is served with gelato, whipped cream and palm sugar syrup. You can choose from Thai tea, Watermelon, to Thai Basil with chocolate chip gelato. Dare to give it a try? Haha! The toast was soft without much crispiness. I felt that the whipped cream was a little too much. If you've tried the After You cafe in Bangkok, it taste completely different from the one at Som Tam. Som Tam's version is without the intention to bear any resemblance of After You, but is inspired by the story of their founder chasing "After" his loved one whom he stared the sweetest French Toast in his life.

After You Toast ($8.80)
